How to make the file, validate it and mark a TDS return filed
One quarterly return: the plain-language check with a button to correct each record, the .txt file in Protean's format, the FVU result (.fvu upload file, report and the Form 27A-equivalent PDF), the challan file (.csi) upload and the token after filing.
Who can do this: Admins and Accountants. Viewers can open it but not change anything.
Steps
Step by step
- Open the return from Quarterly returns.
- Press Make the file. Bebaak writes the .txt exactly to Protean's layout (file names like 140Q227.txt).
- If the FVU is installed on the server, it runs at once and keeps the .fvu, the FVU report and the Form 27A-equivalent PDF — or lists the FVU's errors with codes.
- For challans with tax paid the FVU needs the challan file (.csi): download it from the e-filing portal, upload it on the return and the FVU runs again.
- Without the FVU on the server the page says so: validate the .txt with FVU 1.2 on your computer.
- Upload the .fvu and Form 27A on the portal, then enter the 15-digit token — the return is marked Filed.
Tips
- Correction statements (C1–C9) are not in the new layouts yet — file corrections on the portal / RPU for now.
- Bebaak never makes or changes .csi files; it only uses the one you download.
