How to prepare a quarterly TDS / TCS return
Make the quarterly TDS / TCS statement for one TAN from your deductions and challans: Form 140 (residents), Form 143 (TCS) and Form 144 (non-residents) under the Income-tax Act, 2025 — 26Q / 27Q / 27EQ are kept for periods before April 2026. Bebaak checks everything first and lists, in plain words, what to fix.
Who can do this: Admins and Accountants. Viewers can open it but not change anything.
Steps
Step by step
- Open Tax & Compliance → TDS / TCS → Quarterly returns.
- Pick the TAN, the tax year and the quarter, then press Prepare and check.
- Bebaak makes one return per kind that has entries (140, 143, 144). For quarters before April 2026 it keeps 26Q / 27Q / 27EQ; you can choose the form by hand.
- Read the check: missing or invalid PAN, tax below the higher no-PAN rate, tax not linked to a challan, challan short of its lines, a section or reason code that is not allowed, interest for late deduction / deposit, late-filing fee. Each line has a button to the record to correct.
- Lines marked 'Check — confirm the code' need you to pick the 4-digit section code (for example 194C without the payee type).
- When the check is clean, open the return to make the file.
Tips
- Late-filing fee is ₹200 a day, up to the tax amount; interest for late deduction or deposit is shown line by line.
- Purchase-invoice TDS, sales-invoice TCS and TDS on payment entries / journals are all gathered; journal and payment lines come in as 194C with a note to set the right section.
