How to import data from Excel or CSV
Bring in customers, vendors, items, invoices, bills, opening balances or bank statements in bulk — Zoho Books exports work as they are.
Who can do this: Admins and Accountants. Viewers can open it but not change anything.
Steps
Step by step
- Accountant → Bulk import → New import.
- Choose what you're importing. Download template if you want our column layout.
- Upload a CSV or Excel file (up to 15 MB) with a header row.
- Map fields: match each Bebaak field to a column in your file. Check the first rows preview.
- Choose options: Create customers / vendors / items that are not in the books yet; Post to the books (untick to keep imported documents as drafts for review).
- Click Import. You'll see Imported, Skipped (already in) and Failed counts.
- If rows failed, download the Error report (CSV), fix the file and Import another file.
Tips
- Moving from Zoho Books? Follow the recommended order shown on the page: customers & vendors → items → opening balances → invoices and bills → payments.
- Untick Post to the books the first time so you can review drafts before they affect reports.
