How to manage a legal matter
Stages, hearings, orders, deadlines, costs, pleadings, appeal or settlement and closing — for one matter.
Who can do this: People with a DealFlow role (Legal, Finance, Business owner, Management). Read-only members can look but not change anything.
Steps
Step by step
- Open the matter from Legal disputes.
- Move it through its stages; each move is kept in the history.
- Log each hearing; the next date is carried to the matter and alerts go to the owner and counsel (7, 3 and 1 day before).
- Record orders — the appeal limitation date is worked out for you. Add deadlines, costs (budget vs actual), deposits and pleadings.
- Settle through a settlement agreement (a contract in DealFlow) or file an appeal as a new linked matter.
- Close the matter with the final order (or settlement / closing note) and the financial outcome.
Tips
- Hearing dates are entered by you — DealFlow does not fetch from eCourts.
